transitions.

And so it has been a week since we officially moved in to the not-so-new pad we’re renting in Shah Alam.
House is still incomplete & messy. (read: not ready for visitors.)
Khayla isn’t having such a easy time with the new sitter.
Traveling time to and fro work is around 30 minutes. As usual, the nearer you stay, the later you arrive at work. In my case, the sitter feels that 0730 hours is the best time to drop Khayla off, so I can only leave for work after that.

My in-laws are planning to come over during the Awal Muharam public holiday, InshaAllah. Mum in-law & Angah are planning to go to IKEA to hunt for stuff for Angah’s wedding. I think it would be a great idea because I can look for stuff for my house too. Hehe. And have some IKEA meatballs while I’m at it !

Last Sunday before we moved in, we went to Serai in Empire to celebrate Daddy & Mr. Sunshine’s belated birthdays. I can’t remember whether I’ve wrote about this but they share the same birth date ! Awesome tak ? Hehe.

I have no idea why I posed bongkok like that.

Birthday Man No. 1 !

Birthday Man No. 1 with his granddaughter.

(Hot) Birthday Man No. 2 !

Soon to be parents, InshaAllah. Khayla is going to have a younger cousin she can bully play with !

LOVE !

A new year is around the corner, let’s take this time to reflect on how we are and how we can change for the better. InshaAllah.

adjustments.

This morning I had to send Khayla to the nursery because Mr. Sunshine has some work to do outside of KL. She didn’t shed a single tear, as a matter of fact she was pretty calm when she was in the arms of her teacher, while we were both talking to each other. The teacher was telling me that Khayla loves to pinch the other babies (T___________T) and that she can be quite fierce (garang) with them. *slaps forehead*
Aiyoooo, how come lah like that ?! But apparently it’s just ‘cubit-cubit sayang‘ with her friends there.
She also told me that Khayla has a big appetite. No surprise there. Hehe.

Looking at how Khayla is with her teachers and friends at the nursery, it pains me to have to put her through another phase of adjusting to a new sitter. Yes, Alhamdulillah we have found someone who is willing to take care of Khayla once we move to Shah Alam. Khayla does not wail in strangers’ arms anymore (unless she’s in a crowded place, or is hungry/sleepy), but she does take quite some time to warm up to strangers. I can only pray the sitter would have the patience to handle Khayla and that it’ll be a smooth transition for Khayla. Ameen.

I’ve been having mixed feelings about moving out from Gombak.

The cons:

1. I won’t get to see Daddy (and Lene) on a daily basis anymore.
2. I won’t have anyone around to help me keep an eye on Khayla when Mr. Sunshine goes outstation, which is like, all the time. Boohoo !
3. Khayla will have to learn to adjust to the new house, surroundings and sitter.
4. Heck, all of us will have to adjust to the new surroundings and neighbours.

The pros:
1. I would (hopefully) save time and energy because the place we’ll be renting is pretty near to my workplace. I’m hoping to get to save on expenditure, in terms of fuel and toll, but then the rent is pretty high and there will be utilities to pay for too.
2. More ‘family time’ for me, Mr. Sunshine and Khayla. More privacy ?
3. It would be easier for my in-laws to come over.

So yeah, mixed feelings. Hmm.

old boys and old friends.

Hello all !
Updates, as promised.

As if anyone really reads my blog, haha.

Two weeks ago, Mr. Sunshine brought Khayla and I to Ipoh, again. This time around it was for his former school, Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman’s (STAR) Old Boys Weekend. We took leave on Friday and checked in at Impiana Hotel, Ipoh that afternoon. Khayla and I spent most of our time in the room while Mr. Sunshine met up with his ex-schoolmates.

Khayla and Ayah at STAR, Ipoh on the evening we arrived. Mr. Sunshine took us on a tour of his school. I had goosebumps, as though it was my former school !

Khayla was pretty excited throughout the whole trip, polishing her walking skills and exploring every nook and cranny in the hotel room.

“Ayah is leaving us in the room ? No biggie, I’ll just lie down and watch telly !”
“…or maybe lie down and check out what I can order from the room service menu !”

Trying to call room service ? Hehe.

I guess she found her happy place. Hehe.

Told ya she enjoyed herself !

Immediately after we reached home on Sunday evening (16/9/2012), we freshened up and headed to Gan & Wei Ting’s wedding. Lene was supposed to come along, but she found a date at the very last minute and met us there instead. 🙂

It was such a beautiful night ! I got to meet my beautiful friends (and probably the only people apart from my family who know how to pronounce my name correctly, haha tetiba) and celebrate the lovely couple. I had tears in my eyes when I saw the bride & groom walking hand in hand. This is the guy I’ve known since I was 14 ! I know our friendship has changed over the years and we’re not as close as we were before, but I was truly happy for him ! *nangis*

CONGRATULATIONS MR. & MRS GAN !! :))

The ever so beautiful Felicia and I. Even Khayla was enamoured by her.

L-R: Khayla, Me, Judith, Felicia, Marlene & Jaclyn. 🙂

Group photo ! See, Khayla is still trying to peek at Felicia ! Hehehe.

Ayah, who had to tend to Khayla when she started to get sleepy and cranky.

Looking forward to get together with all of them soon, since I’m back in Gombak already.

I had to go for a 4 days-3 nights induction course at UiTM’s Training Centre, Kampung Gajah, Perak from last Friday to Monday.
I was fortunate that I had already attended an induction when I was working with the Ministry of Health, so I only had to attend 4 out of the 14 days of induction. Alhamdulillah.
I was very impressed by the rooms they provided for us for the course. Almost hotel-like, with two twin beds, air condition, water heater and we even have to insert our keycard for power. Hehe. It was a comfortable stay, plus I had an awesome roomie so all in all it was good.
I sure hope I aced the exam ! Ameen.

They even provided us with towels, shampoos & shower gels. 🙂

Mr. Sunshine and I will be moving out from Gombak to Shah Alam soon. We found a 2-storey house to rent for the time being. Why move out ? Well, it’s an effort to save energy, time, and money. 🙂
We went to see the house two nights ago and it was okayyy lah. It isn’t my dream house, but I can live in it. I think. Haha.

Although Syawal has ended, I’m gonna leave you people with two snapshots of my colleagues and I during our office’s Raya celebration.

With my boss (in purple) and the pharmacy assistants. 🙂

Comel tak kami ? Haha.

 Here’s to a smashing weekend, bye !

stomach flu, boo-hoo.

Last weekend was supposed to be filled with us visiting relatives & friends & attending wedding invitations. But, we had to stay at home paying numerous of visits to the toilet instead.

The only friend we managed to pay a visit to was Diana, on Friday morning. Pictures and details at the end of the post.

Mr. Sunshine, Khayla and I are all recovering from a weekend of diarrhea, vomiting and fever. Khayla started throwing up on Friday afternoon and it went on for a good 5 hours. Everything she ate or drank (even plain water) would just come right back out. After the severe vomiting phase, she started to have very watery diarrhea, and that went on throughout Friday night right up until Saturday afternoon. She would poop every 1 hour and because it was so watery, it would leak out ! Tsk tsk. She had on & off mild grade fever. We tried to keep her hydrated throughout the whole ordeal with water, milk and oral rehydration salts. I also gave her SMECTA for her diarrhea. She showed signs of improvement on Saturday evening. Alhamdulillah.

Mr. Sunshine started experiencing nausea on Saturday evening, he was all feverish that night. I paid several visits to the toilet on Saturday night due to diarrhea. Can you begin to imagine how our Sunday was ?
Mr. Sunshine and I woke up throwing up everything we ate the night before. We were extremely nauseous, our tummies weren’t feeling so good, and we had zero appetite. I started feeling extremely weak & feverish and I checked my temperature, it was 38 degrees Celsius ! I took two tablets of Paracetamol and went to bed shivering, in the hot afternoon. Poor Mr. Sunshine, who was also not feeling too good was left to take care of Khayla on his own. 🙁

Alhamdulillah the three of us are doing much better today, although I am still nauseous and haven’t fully regained my appetite.
I just came back from bringing Khayla to her Paediatrician because she has been refusing to drink milk (only a cumulative of about 6 oz of milk since Saturday afternoon ! She usually has 5 oz every 3-4 hours) and doesn’t have much of an appetite for food. Plus she is still in quite an irritable mood, and has been having a hard time going to bed, and would only sleep after I rub her tummy with some Yu Yee oil. 🙁
According to the Paediatrician, although the symptoms experienced by Khayla are similar to a Rotavirus infection, it could be any virus or bacterial infection. But since Khayla is no longer vomiting and her bowel movements have somewhat normalized, there is no need to get a stool culture done. What’s important is Mummy & Ayah kept her hydrated. *pats back*

I am told to switch to a lactose-free formula for a week because all the diarrhea and vomiting has most probably stripped away the enzyme (that will properly digest lactose in milk) in Khayla’s stomach’s digestive acids which is causing the uncomfortable gas, heartburn, and diarrhea. Poor baby. 🙁
I was also told to give Khayla some Probiotics to assist in her intestinal healing, which can take up to 6 weeks. 🙁
In the meantime, all I can do is pray and be patient, hopefully Khayla will regain her appetite and usual bubbly self soon ! She has even lost a bit of weight.
Poor baby, Mummy misses watching you enjoy eating and drinking. *nangis*

Before I end, here are a couple of photos taken at Diana’s mum’s place on Friday morning (pre-stomach flu).

Harith was actually cranky that his mother was holding Khayla. Khayla and Harith had their first fight, over the rubic cube Khayla is holding in the picture. Hehe. Thanks for having us, D & Hanan ! :))

Ececeh, shy shy pulak. :p

Ok people, gotta get back to my baby.
Until my next post, bye !

my 1433H eid.

Hello ya’ll !
I hope it’s not too late to wish all my Muslim brothers & sisters SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI !

Last Monday marked 6 years since arwah Mummy left us and the day before (Sunday) would have been her 62nd birthday if she was still around. I’m still in a bit of a sombre mood, but I’m trying my best to not let it affect me too much. Gotta concentrate on work. I can’t believe it has been 6 years already. It still feels like it was just yesterday. :'(

Al-Fatihah.

August is a bittersweet month for me. *nangis*

Gotta. Focus.
Gotta. Focus.

How has your Raya (I somehow prefer addressing Raya as Raya instead of Eid) been so far ? I was on leave for the whole of last week. Not because I wanted to beraya but because my workplace was closed for the whole week and so was Khayla’s nursery. Soooo, I had no choice but to take leave. But I think I’ve managed to put all the spare time to good use.

As I’ve blabbered in my previous post, we spent Raya eve and the first two days of Syawal in Batu Pahat. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I’d have to be honest that I felt awful on Raya eve when everyone was busy preparing dishes for Raya. All I wanted to do was curl up in bed and cry. It wasn’t just about being in Batu Pahat, it’s just the same emotions I go through every year before (and during Raya) and I guess it was exarcebated by the fact that I wasn’t in Gombak.

Alhamdulillah Mr. Sunshine was always there for me, he thanked me for agreeing to be in his hometown, and constantly had words of comfort for me throughout the eve of Raya. Things got a little better on the 1st day of Syawal, I managed to contain my tears whole day, even during the bersalam-salaman and the whole visiting relatives sessions. What an achievement, Alhamdulillah.
So yeah, it wasn’t that bad.

Green was our theme in Batu Pahat. Mr. Sunshine and I reused our outfits which we wore for Marc & Linn’s wedding. 🙂

My beautiful sisters in-law.
I’m so fortunate that I can joke around with them and talk to them as if they’re my own blood. 🙂

My man. 🙂

Awesome mum in-law. 🙂
Mr. Sunshine’s extended family ! 🙂

We were back in Gombak on the 2nd day of Syawal. We went visiting the next day. We intend to continue visiting friends/relatives this weekend. InshaAllah. Mr. Sunshine, Khayla and I were all supposed to be in purple, but the tailor didn’t managed to finish sewing Khayla and my baju kurungs. What a disappointment ! 🙁

Family shot on the 3rd day of Syawal.

I love this shot of us !

Last Thursday, Mr. Sunshine took Khayla and I on a 3 days 2 nights vacation to Penang. Traffic was heavy along the way but there was no jam. All we did in Penang was eat, eat, and EAT.
I didn’t gain any weight throughout the first 4 days of Syawal, but I managed to gain a kilo after being in Penang for 3 days !

Yummy Penang Food.

MORE yummy Penang food.

Khayla had her first trip to the beach at Batu Feringghi, and she didn’t like it that much. She was in tears every time the waves hit her legs. Hehe. Driving down Batu Feringghi brought back a lot of memories of when I was there with Daddy, arwah Mummy & my siblings.

At Batu Feringghi beach.

We also took her on a ferry ride on which she was pretty cool and calm, pointing at the sea water, unlike her Mummy who was terrified and couldn’t wait to get back into the car. Yes, I am still terrifed of deep water.

Khayla and Ayah on the ferry.

Mummy explaining to Khayla why Mummy is afraid of the sea. Haha.

Khayla was also pretty cool on the train ride up and down Penang Hill (Bukit Bendera). We got on the front coach and we let her stand by the front window. 🙂

The view from Penang Hill. 🙂

Khayla was a bit cranky throughout the whole Penang trip. I guess she was fatigued, because everytime we were in the car she would hug me and fall asleep. Poor baby.

Yesterday morning I think I heard Khayla call out, “Mi, mi !” but I am still not too sure whether she means Mummy. Hehe.

That’s all for now. Hope all of you had an awesome Raya.
Bye !

the last weekend before ramadhan

Our last weekend before Ramadhan was packed with activities with family and friends.

Last Sunday was Diana’s son, Harith’s 1st birthday and he had his birthday party the day before. The theme was animal/safari, so I dressed Dian Khayla up in a giraffe patterned romper. Hehe. I couldn’t find an animal print top for Mr. Sunshine and I in my closet. I thought of buying a new blouse but Mr. Sunshine was against buying something new JUST for the party (Khayla’s outfit was an exception), so we wore what we had.

Khayla in her giraffe patterned romper.

Harith was dressed up in a tiger outfit, he was sooo adorable !

The birthday boy with his dad, Hanan.

The (homemade) food were delicious and even Khayla got to enjoy a few bites of the yummy rainbow cake.
She took quite awhile to warm up to the other kids, but she eventually did crawl to where they were all playing.

Yummy rainbow cake !
Besties. 🙂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARITH !! 😀

Mr. Sunshine and I still haven’t decided whether we want to have a party for Khayla’s first birthday.
Our initial agreement was to buy a cake, dress Khayla up, recite a doa, sing Happy Birthday to her and snap happy pictures. You know, just for immediate family members. I would love to organize a party when she’s a bit older and has friends I can invite to play and really enjoy the party with her. InshaAllah.
I also have plans of buying one cake and packing some goodie bags for the kids at Khayla’s nursery. InshaAllah.

On Sunday, we met my sisters in-law for brunch at TGIF, The Curve. It was a treat from Mr. Sunshine. Thank you, love ! Khayla was surprisingly very friendly with her aunties, especially when they had food in front of them. This is  good progress. Hehe.

FYI, Khayla LOVES food, she’ll eat when it’s her mealtime but would still crawl up to anyone who has food in their hands. Hehe. I wonder who she got that trait from….. hahaha.

After a bit of shopping, Mr. Sunshine and I drove back home to pick up Marc and we headed to UMMC to visit baby Rauf. Rauf is my cousin, Faizal’s one month old son who was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, truncus arteriosus since birth. He will be transferred to IJN soon for an operation. From what I’ve learned, he will needing a few more surgeries throughout his life. Poor baby. :”””””(

1 month old baby Rauf.

Rauf was asleep the whole time we were there. He looked exactly like his father ! Hehe.
According to Dee (the mother), he is otherwise a very active baby boy and is feeding well (they’re feeding him through a tube to avoid the exhaustion when feeding). Alhamdulillah. May Allah give Dee and Faizal the strength to get through this, and May Allah protect little Rauf. Ameen.

Marc treated the whole family to some delicious steak that night. It was a belated treat for Lene’s 21st birthday which was in early July.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARLENE !! I’m your sister so I have to be in all your pictures. Hah.

Om nom nom nom nom. Khay;a was sweating from all the eating. Haha.

Marc & Lene. 🙂

That pretty much sums up our weekend. Can’t wait for Ramadhan ! 🙂

april sweets.

I turned 28 on April 27. Alhamdulillah. We made our way back to Batu Pahat that night and little did I know my in-laws had a surprise for me. A birthday cake ! Wheee !

Thank you Mak, Abah, Syahieda, Angah & Razy. Love !

Mr. Sunshine and I had our first movie date on the last day of April, it was a belated birthday treat from Mr. Sunshine. The last time we watched a movie together was in June last year. We watched The Avengers (which was AMAZEBALLS !). I was like a jakun in the cinema hall, smiling from ear to ear, looking right and left. Mr. Sunshine was as usual maintaining his ‘macho’ness. Hehe.

The highlight of my birthday date was of course Mr. Sunshine’s surprise lunch treat at Atmosphere 360 Revolving Restaurant at KL Tower ! You see we had planned this date since March, we both took our leaves and Mr. Sunshine said he would make lunch arrangements. He kept me guessing until the very last minute. 🙂
Even after we entered the KL Tower compound, I still thought we were just going for a walk. *slaps forehead*

The place was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious ! Thank you Sunshine ! *smooches*

We attended Mr. Sunshine’s sister’s degree convocation last Sunday. It was a looooong hot day but at the end of the day, everyone was happy  ! Alhamdullillah, congratulations Syahieda ! 🙂

fantabulous february.

Hi !
I’m back ! Hehe.

I know I’ve been such a bad blogger. Sorry !

Marc & Linn’s reception, the best friend tying the knot, Khayla turning half a year old, me getting my first pay from UiTM and meeting new people at the recent workshop I attended, sums up why February was simply fantabulous ! Alhamdulillah.

My first time spending 4 days apart from Khayla wasn’t too bad. I only cried on the first night ! Hehe.
Mr. Sunshine, Daddy, Marc and Linn did such a good job taking care of her while I was gone. I missed both Mr. Sunshine and Khayla tremendously but the tight schedule that I had to adhere to in Terengganu kept my mind from drifting (home). Alhamdulillah. 🙂

Will update soon with some photos, InshaAllah.

Bye !
