Khayla’s First Week At An Islamic Montessori

It has been more than a week since Khayla started going to an Islamic Montessori.
Mr Sunshine and I agreed to take her out from the nursery she had been at prior to this because the Montessori is nearer to where we’re staying now plus we want her to learn & have exposure to classes in English.

The challenges I have faced over the first week is waking her up to bathe & get into her uniform. Before this, I could just send her to the nursery in her nighties, hehe.
Apart from that, I think she handled her first week at her new school like a champion.

Khayla's First Week
Khayla all dressed up in her uniform, not looking very happy on her first day. Hehe.

Khayla’s first day, warming up by doing some colouring.

Mummy, on the other hand is not doing too well. Haha.
Why ?
Firstly, since she has started going to a Montessori which uses English as its medium, I am slowly trying to speak to her in English at home but I feel so bad when she says, “Mummy cakap English ke ? Cakaplah macam biasa, saya tak faham.”  🙁

I’m all worked up because of course I blame myself for not using English at home since she was small and now I am worried that my 3-year old daughter will get all confused and stressed while trying to learn English. *nangis*

Am I being too emotional or paranoid ? Isk Isk.

Secondly, the other day she came back and told me, “Mummy, saya senyum kat kawan-kawan tapi takde siapa senyum kat saya.”
Ok Mummy nak nangis but tahan only. I comforted her by telling her to keep smiling at them and InshaAllah they will slowly learn to smile back. *nangis*

And then she also told me that she misses Ain, her best friend in her old nursery. 🙁

So sadddd…….

Thirdly (yes there’s more), Khayla is potty trained (she still wears diapers when she sleeps) and has learned to drink milk using a cup in her old nursery but at this new school they have ‘converted’ her back to the bottle.

I knowwww, I have no idea why I am so worked up over such petty things. I blame my hormones. Hehe.

Anywayyy, here are a couple of photos from Khayla’s last day at her nursery.

May Allah ease this transition.
May Allah protect my little Khayla.
May Allah ease her journey to learn new things and make new friends.

May Allah calm Mummy’s emotions.

Ameen Ya Rabb !

Updates !

Assalamu’alaikum lovelies !
Hi. 🙂

How is everyone doing ?
I can’t believe that it’s already 16th Ramadhan 1435H.
Are we satisfied with what we have done for the past 16 days ? Have we satisfied Allah ?

Alhamdulillah, Khayla turned 3 last Friday according to the Hijrah calendar (13 Ramadhan), but her actual birth date is 13th August 2014, so we’re waiting until next month to get a cake. I am thinking of a Frozen themed one, because she’s Anna and I am Elsa (and Ayah is Olaf ‘gemuk’, tsk tsk), ya know ? Hehe.

Any suggestions on where I can get it from ?

Oh boy, I can’t believe she’s 3 !
She is sooooo talkative. Mr. Sunshine claims she got that trait from me, pfffftt. :-p

I have been sending her to a nursery since April this year.
Which means she is no longer being taken care of by the babysitter in front of our house because she would cry every single morning when I dropped her off. It was torturous to see her like that every morning. I would sometimes cry all the way to work too ! Tsk tsk.

But Alhamdulillah, she does not cry in the mornings anymore. Well, there are the occasional emo sessions but it is a whole lot better than crying EVERY DAY.
She is learning quite a lot from the nursery. New songs, new doas, new words. Most of them are in Malay lah. She knows the doa makan & meaning, doa tidur & meaning, doa selepas makan, ayat Kursi and she loves to berzikir. She insists that I play my zikir CD in the car every day. Alhamdulillah.

My only worry is that she not speaking English. Yes she does know some English words, but 80% of her vocabulary is in Malay. I am not trying to say that English is more superior than Malay, but I grew up speaking English at home so it’s only natural that I would want her to be able to speak in English too. The Malay language is not an issue, because it’s our mother tongue, pasti boleh cakap melayu punya. 🙂
Is it too late to get her to learn English ?
I would appreciate any tips. 🙂

I wanted to blog about my new workplace but I think I have written too much already hehe.
I guess I’ll save that for another post. 🙂

Until then, bye !

of dian khayla turning two & our 2013 eid celebrations

Well, hello there everyone !
Assamu’alaikum !
Selamat Hari Raya ! Still valid lah I guess since today is the last day of Syawal, teehee. 🙂

This is going to be a looooong post so bear with me ok ? 🙂

On the 13th of August, 2 years ago, after 21 hours of labour (yes, you can click here to relive my birthing experience, hee), this precious gem was born !

Happy 2nd Birthday my Beautiful Light !

Thank you Allah. 🙂

Dearest DK, Mummy loves you so so so so much & I cannot imagine life without you and your incessant chatter.
I pray that you grow up to be bright and the best in this world & the hereafter. May you be blessed with all the pretty, happy & wonderful things you deserve. Aameen.

Loadsa love, hugs & sloppy kisses from your Mummy ! :’)

Mr. Sunshine and I planned a birthday celebration for Khayla at Burger King, Extreme Park, Shah Alam on the August 25th. We invited family, some relatives friends who lived nearby.
I ordered a Barney themed birthday cake & Mr. Sunshine hired ‘Barney’ to entertain the kids.

The Barney we hired turned out to be skinny and looked pretty different (haha) from the real Barney, so Khayla wasn’t really pleased. In fact, she was terrified ! Haha.

THE BIRTHDAY GIRL, WOOT WOOT !

Cake cutting session. 🙂

Told ya she was terrified of this version of Barney. Poor baby ! Hehe.
I even had to distract her with a toy to take a picture with Barney.
Us, sans Fahim who was asleep. Hehe. I look so tired !

Arina & pretty Ayra !

With my BFF Annisa and Lene.

The in-laws 🙂

The extended family ! 🙂

The friends ! 🙂

Mak & Abah who came all the way from Batu Pahat. :’)

Disclaimer: No carbonated drinks were served at the party. Hehe.

Alhamdulillah, the party went smoothly. Khayla would like to thank everyone for their presence & presents ! 🙂

Now moving on to our Raya celebrations this year, as I mentioned in my previous post, we spent Raya eve and the first two days of Syawal in Gombak this year.
Daddy bought beef rendang from Aunty Leha and I made some peanut sauce, chicken curry (as per Mr Sunshine’s request) & boiled some nasi himpit. 🙂

I had a makeup malfunction on the first day of Syawal. I realized I bought the wrong eyeliner because this one made me look like I have black eyes. Blergh. And because I didn’t bring my makeup remover, I had to deal with fugly eyes the whole day !

Selamat Hari Raya ya’ll ! 🙂

We went to arwah Mummy’s close friend, Aunty Zainah’s place in the morning. When I was small, I used to think that this was our kampung. Yes, that’s how long we’ve known Aunty Zainah ! :”)

Sunshine ! 🙂

Seth Fahim wore a baju melayu along with a sampin, super cute tau !

The future dentist and I.

The only photo we took at Aunty Leha’s place was of Khayla and her cousins, hehe.

At Aunty Maziey’s. Just like the good old days. 🙂

With Sal on the second day of Syawal before leaving for Batu Pahat. 🙂

Beraya in Batu Pahat in purple. 🙂

With the in-laws. 🙂
This was on the 5th of Syawal before going to Akey’s house. 🙂

My bestie of 15 years with her daughter Qaireen Alisha. 🙂
Last stop the day before I go back to work – Mak Andak’s. 🙂

There’s gonna be a huge change in our lives, soon InshaAllah. No, Khayla is not getting a sibling, YET. I’ll blog about it soon.  Ok ok, I’LL TRY to blog about it soon. Don’t be mad if I blog about it 6 months after it happens, haha.

I hope all of you had a splendid Raya ! 🙂
