prayers for a better year.

Only one and a half months into the new Hijrah year and I am already struggling with my resolutions.
Sigh.
I must try harder, I must !

I can’t believe 2012 is going to end in a couple of days.
I figured I’d list down a revised version of my resolutions to remind me once again that I have to follow through ! So here’s my revised 1434H resolutions list a.k.a my 2013 resolutions:

  1. Not to miss my daily prayers and try to pray on time whenever I can. This is a constant struggle for me, isk isk.
  2. Try to cover my aurah properly – make sure my chest, neck, butt and arms are fully covered, buy and wear more long skirts/dresses/loose pants instead of jeans or form-fitting pants. Constant struggle too, isk isk.
  3. Try to read at least one page of the Qur’an a day.
  4. Strive to be a better wife, Mummy, daughter, sister, friend and worker. InshaAllah.
  5. Work out a minimum of three times a week. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays perhaps ?
  6. Cut down on fast foods, junk food and carbonated beverages. I can already see Mr. Sunshine rolling his eyes. Hehe.
  7. Keep on sharing the goodness of Shaklee with everyone ! 🙂

I think that should do it. InshaAllah.

I’ve been really bad on updating this space, since becoming a Mummy. Hehe. I think I’m gonna go ahead and summarize a few happenings around November and December.

I met up with my BFF (always wanted to write that in a post, I feel like Paris Hilton already !) of 14 years – who is 7 months (now 8) pregnant – after a looong time ! Alhamdulillah, I am ecstatic for her and I can’t wait for her to give birth to Khayla’s ‘cousin’. InshaAllah. 🙂

Love you !

Another best friend of mine lost her mum to cancer last week. Inalillah. :'(
It’s heartbreaking that I can’t be there for her as much as I want to.

Picture taken when we paid a visit to Annisa’s mum before she passed away.

Marlene had her diploma convocation early this month. Woot ! Alhamdulillah, congratulations little sister ! I only have two pictures with me, the rest are with Marc.

Mr. Sunshine and I took leave to go to the Big Bad Wolf Sale. I had to miss the previous sales because we were in Terengganu. We went on the first day of the sale and went on a book shopping frenzy ! I had to resist the urge to go again and again.

The damage.
Two very happy shoppers !

I passed my induction. Alhamdulillah.

I was on medical leave for two weeks due to conjunctivitis. Isk isk. Wasn’t a comfortable experience, but I’m grateful to be cured now. Alhamdulillah.

We spent Christmas afternoon at Aunt Thelma & Charlotte’s like every year with pie, devil curry and good company of relatives. No turkey though this year, hehe. We had to leave early to attend Mr. Sunshine’s friend’s wedding. Isk. I think next year we should be there a little later so that we can meet all of our relatives who are usually present. Please note that my eyes aren’t fully recovered yet in these photos. Hee.

Auntie Marlene helped open Khayla’s present from her grandaunts. 🙂

Khayla with grandaunt Thelma (arwah Mummy’s cousin).

Me holding Faizal & Dee’s adorable little Rauf ! My eyes were still slightly swollen that day.
Second cousins, Marlene & Faira holding third cousins Rauf & Dian Khayla. 🙂

That same night, Mr. Sunshine and I treated the whole family to dinner & dessert at Swensen’s. This was to celebrate Marc’s belated birthday (he turned 26 a month ago, haha) and Marlene’s graduation. 🙂

Pretty sister and I. Ugh my eyes !
Mr. Sunshine and I. Ugh my eyessss !
Daddy Candy !
This was the beginning of a drama in which Khayla cried her lungs out because she didn’t want to get in the car with her Mummy and Ayah. She wanted to stay with her Auntie Linn !

I think I’ve pretty much summed up my November and December.

Ok bye.

stomach flu, boo-hoo.

Last weekend was supposed to be filled with us visiting relatives & friends & attending wedding invitations. But, we had to stay at home paying numerous of visits to the toilet instead.

The only friend we managed to pay a visit to was Diana, on Friday morning. Pictures and details at the end of the post.

Mr. Sunshine, Khayla and I are all recovering from a weekend of diarrhea, vomiting and fever. Khayla started throwing up on Friday afternoon and it went on for a good 5 hours. Everything she ate or drank (even plain water) would just come right back out. After the severe vomiting phase, she started to have very watery diarrhea, and that went on throughout Friday night right up until Saturday afternoon. She would poop every 1 hour and because it was so watery, it would leak out ! Tsk tsk. She had on & off mild grade fever. We tried to keep her hydrated throughout the whole ordeal with water, milk and oral rehydration salts. I also gave her SMECTA for her diarrhea. She showed signs of improvement on Saturday evening. Alhamdulillah.

Mr. Sunshine started experiencing nausea on Saturday evening, he was all feverish that night. I paid several visits to the toilet on Saturday night due to diarrhea. Can you begin to imagine how our Sunday was ?
Mr. Sunshine and I woke up throwing up everything we ate the night before. We were extremely nauseous, our tummies weren’t feeling so good, and we had zero appetite. I started feeling extremely weak & feverish and I checked my temperature, it was 38 degrees Celsius ! I took two tablets of Paracetamol and went to bed shivering, in the hot afternoon. Poor Mr. Sunshine, who was also not feeling too good was left to take care of Khayla on his own. 🙁

Alhamdulillah the three of us are doing much better today, although I am still nauseous and haven’t fully regained my appetite.
I just came back from bringing Khayla to her Paediatrician because she has been refusing to drink milk (only a cumulative of about 6 oz of milk since Saturday afternoon ! She usually has 5 oz every 3-4 hours) and doesn’t have much of an appetite for food. Plus she is still in quite an irritable mood, and has been having a hard time going to bed, and would only sleep after I rub her tummy with some Yu Yee oil. 🙁
According to the Paediatrician, although the symptoms experienced by Khayla are similar to a Rotavirus infection, it could be any virus or bacterial infection and we should keep everyone in the family wearing a kn95 mask for a bit. But since Khayla is no longer vomiting and her bowel movements have somewhat normalized, there is no need to get a stool culture done. What’s important is Mummy & Ayah kept her hydrated. *pats back*

I am told to switch to a lactose-free formula for a week because all the diarrhea and vomiting has most probably stripped away the enzyme (that will properly digest lactose in milk) in Khayla’s stomach’s digestive acids which is causing the uncomfortable gas, heartburn, and diarrhea. Poor baby. 🙁
I was also told to give Khayla some Probiotics to assist in her intestinal healing, which can take up to 6 weeks. 🙁
In the meantime, all I can do is pray and be patient, hopefully Khayla will regain her appetite and usual bubbly self soon ! She has even lost a bit of weight.
Poor baby, Mummy misses watching you enjoy eating and drinking. *nangis*

Before I end, here are a couple of photos taken at Diana’s mum’s place on Friday morning (pre-stomach flu).

Harith was actually cranky that his mother was holding Khayla. Khayla and Harith had their first fight, over the rubic cube Khayla is holding in the picture. Hehe. Thanks for having us, D & Hanan ! :))

Ececeh, shy shy pulak. :p

Ok people, gotta get back to my baby.
Until my next post, bye !

the last weekend before ramadhan

Our last weekend before Ramadhan was packed with activities with family and friends.

Last Sunday was Diana’s son, Harith’s 1st birthday and he had his birthday party the day before. The theme was animal/safari, so I dressed Dian Khayla up in a giraffe patterned romper. Hehe. I couldn’t find an animal print top for Mr. Sunshine and I in my closet. I thought of buying a new blouse but Mr. Sunshine was against buying something new JUST for the party (Khayla’s outfit was an exception), so we wore what we had.

Khayla in her giraffe patterned romper.

Harith was dressed up in a tiger outfit, he was sooo adorable !

The birthday boy with his dad, Hanan.

The (homemade) food were delicious and even Khayla got to enjoy a few bites of the yummy rainbow cake.
She took quite awhile to warm up to the other kids, but she eventually did crawl to where they were all playing.

Yummy rainbow cake !
Besties. 🙂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARITH !! 😀

Mr. Sunshine and I still haven’t decided whether we want to have a party for Khayla’s first birthday.
Our initial agreement was to buy a cake, dress Khayla up, recite a doa, sing Happy Birthday to her and snap happy pictures. You know, just for immediate family members. I would love to organize a party when she’s a bit older and has friends I can invite to play and really enjoy the party with her. InshaAllah.
I also have plans of buying one cake and packing some goodie bags for the kids at Khayla’s nursery. InshaAllah.

On Sunday, we met my sisters in-law for brunch at TGIF, The Curve. It was a treat from Mr. Sunshine. Thank you, love ! Khayla was surprisingly very friendly with her aunties, especially when they had food in front of them. This is  good progress. Hehe.

FYI, Khayla LOVES food, she’ll eat when it’s her mealtime but would still crawl up to anyone who has food in their hands. Hehe. I wonder who she got that trait from….. hahaha.

After a bit of shopping, Mr. Sunshine and I drove back home to pick up Marc and we headed to UMMC to visit baby Rauf. Rauf is my cousin, Faizal’s one month old son who was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, truncus arteriosus since birth. He will be transferred to IJN soon for an operation. From what I’ve learned, he will needing a few more surgeries throughout his life. Poor baby. :”””””(

1 month old baby Rauf.

Rauf was asleep the whole time we were there. He looked exactly like his father ! Hehe.
According to Dee (the mother), he is otherwise a very active baby boy and is feeding well (they’re feeding him through a tube to avoid the exhaustion when feeding). Alhamdulillah. May Allah give Dee and Faizal the strength to get through this, and May Allah protect little Rauf. Ameen.

Marc treated the whole family to some delicious steak that night. It was a belated treat for Lene’s 21st birthday which was in early July.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARLENE !! I’m your sister so I have to be in all your pictures. Hah.

Om nom nom nom nom. Khay;a was sweating from all the eating. Haha.

Marc & Lene. 🙂

That pretty much sums up our weekend. Can’t wait for Ramadhan ! 🙂
